The new YMCA at 535 Bayview Drive in Barrie, ON will serve as a modern community hub offering inclusive recreation, wellness, and support services. Ball Construction is the general contractor, with Kelson Mechanical delivering the mechanical systems for the facility. The centre will include two pools, a free weights and fitness area, a gymnasium, daycare/childcare section and office and lounge areas. The project also incorporates a three‑story youth housing wing to provide safe, supportive accommodations for local youth. Designed for accessibility, efficiency, and long‑term community benefit, the building features a dedicated two‑story mechanical room supporting the diverse operational needs of the recreational and residential spaces.
Mechanical Systems
Implementation of underground piping and ductwork. Successful crane lift was operated to hoist the roof top and humidifier curbs onto the roof of site. Drill shots on the second floor were done in preparation to hang up piping and duct. Coordination continues between other trades and the general contractor to ensure a smooth implementation of equipment, piping and duct.
