The Hospital for Sick Children - PCGRL Data Centre Expansion - Phase 2
Completion: March 20, 2018
Location: Toronto
Kelson was the prime contractor for The Hospital for Sick Children Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (PGCRL) 6th floor phase 2 renovation project. This project was adding mechanical and electrical equipment to the existing data centre. Kelson installed new redundant chilled water lines feeding 7 rows of Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) units.
Mechanical Systems
This expansion project included the installation of 31 valve tie-ins to the existing chilled water branch connections feeding the CRAC units, which will better facilitate row shutdowns and use of both the existing chilled water lines and the new redundant chilled water lines in the data centre. The electrical scope included the installation and connection of 4 new Power Distribution Units (PDUs), 4 new horizontal Data/IT busways and a total of 28 plug-in unit receptacles. This was a 24x7 occupied facility with strict Infection Prevention and Control Guidelines (IPAC) procedures in place.
