Mechanical Systems
Kelson had to remove 6 cooling towers and install 2 new towers along with the new structural steel. Extremely tight timelines with removal of old towers and delivery of new equipment. A 400 ton crane was brought in to assist with removal of old towers, and delivery of new towers. This was all coordinated within a very limited space in the parking lot. Installation of two 12 inch x 80 ft. risers in one piece was dropped through the shaft. The location of the mechanical room was under the north west parking lot, requiring a 20ft. x 20ft. access hatch and removable enclosure to the mechanical room was created. All chillers, pumps, and piping were removed and re-installed through this access hatch. Kelson was also responsible for removing and installing new roofing membrane over the heritage law library. This was a successful endeavor as not one book was damaged in the process.
