The Sick Kids Fluoroscopy Suite at the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning (PGCRL) is a laboratory facility designed for researchers and doctors from both Sick Kids and the PGCRL. The lab facility features a high-tech fluoroscopy machine that uses x-rays to obtain real-time moving images of the interior of the subject under examination. This type of medical imaging is used in a wide variety of examinations and procedures to diagnose or treat patients. The addition of the Fluoroscopy Suite to the PGCRL provides the doctors and researchers with a tool to examine subjects and obtain information from a different perspective.

Mechanical Systems

Mechanical  Systems: The main piece of equipment installed in the mechanical interstitial space was a fan coil unit serving the Siemens equipment room outside the fluoroscopy room. Domestic hot/cold water, tempered water and recirculation pipe were connected and installed from the mechanical interstitial space to the fluoroscopy suite in order to connect a scrub sink and eyewash station. Lab gas piping was installed and connected to the base building system in order to install an electrical column and electrical headwall in the fluoroscopy room. Control systems for the fan coil unit were integrated with base building BAS.Â
