Sunnybrook Hospital Imaging Research Centre for Cardiac Intervention (IRCCI) Laboratory Addition
Completion: April 02, 2007
Location: Toronto
Kelson was the mechanical contractor for the new world-class Imaging Research Centre for Cardiovascular Intervention (IRCCI) at Sunnybrook Hospital. The heart of IRCCI is a state-of-the-art facility located in the M wing of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and includes the following: a research lab, offices of researchers and their staff,Β day beds for research subjects, a catheterization (CATH) laboratory that integrates a flat panel biplane X-ray system with an interventional magnetic resonance (MR) imager, a 3-D ultrasound system, X-ray C-arm,Β an optical imaging system, and numerous catheter-based imaging systems. As a unique facility, the IRCCI examines the way both cardiovascular imaging and interventions proceed by emphasizing the intimate interaction between the two processes. The lab allows researchers to bring the most advanced developments together for improved detection of cardiovascular disease.
Mechanical Systems
Kelson mechanical highlights: Kelson installed the following: medical gas, storm draining, 2 Air Handling Units (AHU), Fan Coils, Radiant Heat. All mechanical connections to existing systems. Kelson installed 2 AHU via helicopter lift in the emergency parking lot of M-Wing. This was an occupied facility and a busy parking lot/emergency entrance. With careful coordination and planning, Kelson executed a successful air lift of equipment. IPAC measures were in place in specific areas of the hospital.
