Sunnybrook Hospital M-Wing - Helipad Renovation

The Sunnybrook M-Wing Helipad project combines construction for new expansion and existing facility infrastructure re-work. The project is a significant structural expansion on the M-Wing for a new Helipad and circulation corridor along the existing roof to service the hospital. New air, heating, cooling and fire protection systems are being provided for the Pad as well as for the service corridor.

Kelson mechanical highlights:
Kelson was able to work with specialist Helipad contractors and integrate base building systems with their specialty systems. Custom fire protection, oil containment as well as heating systems for ice and snow management were taken into consideration. Also, attention to wind studies and down draft from Helicopter traffic was a unique challenge to manage. Detailed shutdown and site work plans had to be coordinated with hospital operations staff due to the complexity of their day-to-day dealings.
