The project involves the installation of a new manufacturing facility for vaccine production. The facility will occupy the existing Building B-54 footprint, rising five stories above. The existing B-54 footprint will be converted to mechanical, shipping/receiving and waste area. The levels above are dedicated to process equipment and service. The fifth level mechanical penthouse will contain air handling units. The project also includes a two storey addition on the south side of the adjacent building B-89 housing new electrical room and chiller plant on the ground floor. Directly above will be office space and roof top cooling towers.

Mechanical Systems

Between the months of April 2010 and December 2010, Geo. A. Kelson was involved with this project in a “pre-assist basis” providing mechanical input as to scheduling, financial budgeting, initial CAD layout and 3-D rendering, constructability issues and assisting with the process piping design. Kelson also began the tendering and procurement of long lead mechanical equipment. In addition, Kelson played a key role in the design development of the steam site service work and took part in the creation of a production mock up room.
