Napanee District Secondary School Controls Upgrade
Completion: October 01, 2019
Location: Napanee
Kelson was the prime contractor for the renovation project at Napanee District Secondary School. This project included four components; replace the existing suspended ceiling in 9,500-sq.ft of corridor space, renovate a 1,000-sq.ft classroom, renovate the 1,300-sq.ft office space and the addition of controls wiring for 52 rooftop exhaust fans.
The corridor renovations included removing the existing suspended ceiling and lighting and reinstating with a new ceiling and LED lights. The corridor renovation also included stabilizing locker groups to better support the suspended ceiling. The classroom renovation included abating and reinstating 400-sq.ft of asbestos containing wall sound dampening tiles, installing a new suspended ceiling and replacing the existing lighting with new LED lights. The office renovation included removing a permanent desk fixture, abating and reinstating asbestos containing floor tiles, replace crumbling plaster wall with drywall and install additional electrical outlets. The school was out fitted with 52 rooftop exhaust fans that were installed to run 24/7 which caused a heat loss of up to 70%. Kelson wired and programmed the fans to run on a season and time of day schedule significantly reducing unnecessary heat loss, which resulted in cost savings to the owner.
