Branksome Hall JK-Gr.12 Independent Day & Boarding School HVAC Reno
Completion: December 05, 2022
Location: Toronto
Kelson served as the mechanical contractor for Phase 0 of the Branksome Hall project, an independent day and boarding school for girls in Toronto, Ontario. This initial phase prepared the building for the demolition of half of the existing structure and its replacement with new construction. The work included installing a new Enbridge gas meter and running new gas and water lines from the east side of the building to enable the demolition of existing lines in Phase 1. New boiler and hot water tank stacks were installed to replace those being removed, and the demolition and reconstruction of a drama room in the east building included new vertical fan coils with an energy recovery ventilator connected to a new condensing rooftop unit. Key highlights of the project included routing boiler venting up three levels through new chases, installing new gas lines to serve existing rooftop units and boilers with updated PRVs, and freezing existing lines to connect new services. This fast-paced project was completed over the summer school break within a heritage-designated building, requiring careful planning and execution.
