Stretching two full city blocks, The Toronto Eaton Centre is a historical landmark, and today one of Canada’s best-known retail shopping destinations, attracting millions of visitors annually. The multi-storey glass-ceiling structure originated from one man’s dream to revolutionize the Canadian retail industry. On October 20, 2007 Geo. A. Kelson Company Limited executed a three-hour helicopter lift operation at the Toronto Eaton Centre. Kelson helped organize the helicopter lift of 20 Air Handling Units to 20 Queen St., a building that is part of the Eaton Centre. In total, fifteen lifts were done transporting the Air Handling Units over a three hour period. The project team consisted of 80 people involving PCL (general contractors), Hidi Rae (mechanical consultants), Queen’s Quay Architect International (architects), and National Helicopters from Vauguan (suppliers of the Sikorsky S-58 Skycrane helicopter).
