R.H. Cornish Public School - HVAC Upgrades (PRIME)

R.H. Cornish Public School, located in Port Perry, Ontario, is part of the Durham District School Board (DDSB) and serves over 650 students across a wide range of programs. Kelson acted as the prime contractor for the school’s renovation project, overseeing the complete mechanical scope as well as managing all construction trades, including electrical, structural, general trades, and abatement. The mechanical upgrades included the replacement and modernization of the school’s ventilation, heating, and cooling systems. The work involved the installation of three new air-handling units, new hydronic pumps, heat exchangers, wallfins, and expansion tanks. These systems were integrated with the existing heating infrastructure and distributed through two main mechanical rooms to efficiently serve the entire building. The general and electrical scope encompassed new millwork, lighting, electrical distribution panels, doors and hardware, and structural modifications throughout the school and mechanical spaces. The completed project delivered a significant improvement to the facility’s overall performance, comfort, and energy efficiency, ensuring a healthier and more modern learning environment for students and staff.
