Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) Courthouse Building - HVAC Renovation
Completion: March 02, 2026
Location: Brampton
The Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA) is a heritage building built in 1867. This heritage project consists of the removal and replacement of eight (8) AHU’s, with DX coils (for heating and cooling) and VFR condensing units on the roof. Five units are located in the basement, and three units are located in the attic. All units are connected to a variable refrigerant (VRF) system and connected to branch selector boxes. All units have hydronic heating coils for back up heating. All units will be connected to external humidifiers complete with steam, condensate, domestic water, and drain piping. All equipment is on the building automation system. Refrigerant monitoring and leak detection is installed in all areas with DX coils.
Mechanical Systems
The project includes the installation of eight new air handling units (AHUs), designed to come in sections small enough to fit through a standard door and be assembled in place. Each AHU will be equipped with its own humidifier, totaling eight new humidifiers. Two VRF systems will be installed—one serving AHUs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 8, and the other serving AHUs 5, 6, and 7—each with three branch selector boxes. Additionally, two new return fans will be provided for AHUs 7 and 8. Thermal sub-metering will be implemented to monitor hot water usage for each AHU, and all equipment will be integrated into the building automation system.
