York Central Hospital - Long Term Care Facility
Completion: May 01, 2000
Location: Richmond Hill
Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital, formerly known as York Central Hospital, has been a key healthcare facility in Richmond Hill since its opening in 1973 and has undergone multiple expansions to meet the needs of the growing community. As part of the major renovation project completed between 1999 and 2000, Kelson was responsible for delivering the full mechanical scope of work. This included the installation and integration of new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing systems, Building Automation System (BAS) and medical gas distribution to support a wide range of hospital functions. The facility provides 170 long-term care beds with 24-hour medical support, as well as 116 permanent beds, hemodialysis treatment areas, and 32 interim beds. Mechanical systems were designed to maintain patient comfort and safety while supporting specialized services such as laundry and housekeeping, meal preparation, personal hygiene and medical supply systems, recreation and social program areas, and spiritual service spaces. Additionally, critical mechanical infrastructure was implemented to support advanced care needs, including palliative care, all while ensuring the hospital could deliver reliable services in a safe and sanitary environment.
