Geo. A Kelson acted as the general and mechanical contractor. We were responsible the for the dismantling and removal of the existing chillers and installation of two new 350 ton chillers. The project was complex as we had to cut a hole in the 12β thick concrete roof 12β x Β 18β. The chillers were lowered into the mechanical room in pieces and re-built. The roof had to be structurally designed which we hired a structural engineer as well as build an engineered scaffold to support this. The work was further complicated but logistics as the Earth Sciences in located in the centre of a courtyard. A considerable amount of planning went into this so as not to disrupt the daily operations at the University.
