Kelson is the trade partner for the validation of new City of Barrie Operations Centre IPD project. This project involves the existing City of Barrie Operations Centre at 165 Ferndale Drive North, which is approximately 50 acres and comprised of a series of occupied and unoccupied structures, fenced site storage, a snow melt pad, a large storm water management pond and a section of environmentally protected wetland and woodland. The city plans to keep the existing stormwater management pond and save the environmentally protect areas. This project has multiple structures and consists of the construction of a new operations facility and then the demolition of the existing operations facility. The existing functioning operations centre will remain occupied during construction. This will be a phases construction project with all stakeholders working together to achieve the IPD schedule. There is a focus on energy efficiency construction with net zero and zero carbon disaster reliance, including a green house.

Mechanical Systems

The mechanical highlights will feature electrical boilers, in-floor radiant heating, DX refrigeration cooling with high efficiency heat recovery mechanical systems.
