The project consisted of replacing a currently existing high pressure domestic water riser with a new 6” Stainless Steel riser. As the prime contractor on the job, Kelson was required to coordinate with the Mt. Sinai to open existing shafts to allow for installation and demolition of services. Work areas were hoarded off by Mt. Sinai to maintain clean working area’s and comply with infection control as requested. Asbestos abatement was done so that work could be performed safely. The scope of work was carried out in two phases, where the top section of the existing riser was replaced, followed by the bottom half. With the use of our prefabrication facility, and innovative installation sequence, the work was performed quickly and as planned.Â
