York University Farquharson Vivarium HVAC System (Prime)

Kelson was the prime contractor for the renovation project at York University Farquharson Life Sciences Building. This project involved renovation to mechanical systems in portion of basement space by constructing HVAC system and all associated work and components including work on the roof. Hazardous abatement was included in the scope of work, involving the removal and disconnecting two existing Air Handling Units (AHU) Â as well as existing exhaust fan on the roof, existing ductwork, pipe and accessories and replace with new mechanical systems per contract documents. Kelson provided full AirGenuity system for all lab use. Also coordinate all work around occupied spaces and ongoing animal testing (fish, rats, rabbits), Â was completed with construction requirements.
Mechanical Systems
Kelson mechanical highlights: AirGenuity System – Pressure controls via venture valves and monitors for all lab spaces. Mechanical room renovation to provided new AHU, controls and associated piping. Kelson provided the HVAC upgrade throughout the building. Kelson also coordinated all mechanical, architectural, electrical, controls, sprinkler requirements through lifecycle for this project.
