Kelson was the Prime Contractor. The project was to upgrade the electrical and mechanical systems in the community centre. The mechanical portion of the project consisted of 4 AHU with condenser units, 5 return fans, 2 boilers, 2 pool dehumidification units, 2 fluid coolers, and misc. pumps and exhaust fans. With the new mechanical equipment being installed the electrical system could not handle all the new equipment. Electrical upgrades consisted of a new 600V feed from Toronto Hydro Vault to new switchboard in a new electrical service trench. A new transformer and new distribution panels (575V and 120V) were also installed in the electrical room and mechanical rooms.

Mechanical Systems

HVAC Equipment Removal: This project involved major equipment removal including four air handling units, five fans, two boilers, and two dehumidification units. The associated piping and ductwork connecting to these pieces of equipment also had to be removed.

HVAC Equipment Supply: Kelson managed the procurement process, tendering the equipment, negotiating purchase agreements and managing the shop drawing process for all pieces of equipment.

HVAC Installation: The installation of equipment involved the shipment, hoisting, and positioning equipment in an already existing building. Upon installation of equipment, ductwork and piping were reconfigured as needed to serve these units. New equipment required a larger electrical feed, which was coordinated and installed in the electrical and mechanical rooms.
